Access to solicitors on a legal rota by appointment. Home visits can be arranged by appointment for those suffering from ill health or mobility issues.

Shelter Housing Aid and Research Project (SHARP)

Advice and advocacy on housing rights and options. Solicitor for legal advice and help at court. Training, consultancy and information for other agencies on housing law and rights.

Cambridge House Law Centre

Legal advice, assistance and representation in employment, housing and welfare benefits. Service by appointment only.


The national centre of expertise on drugs & drugs law- providing free & confidential specialist advice via a national helpline. Delivers 2 regional frontline services: therapeutic counselling & legal outreach surgeries in drug treatment centres, as well as a National expert witness service (reports & testimony). Produces a number of educational publications & engages with NGOs & select committees.

Guildford Employment Rights Advice Line Direct (GERALD)

Telephone employment rights advice line providing preliminary advice to employees on employment issues. All contact with the service is by phone, administered by student volunteers and advice given by qualified employment lawyers.

Advance Advocacy Project

Crisis intervention, risk assessment, risk management and safety planning for women aged 16 and over who are living with domestic violence and are assessed as high risk. Advocacy, advice, support, legal advice, housing information and support through the court process for witnesses and victims of domestic violence. Referrals through Police, health and housing services, substance misuse services.

Derby Women's Centre

Advice, support and a safe space for women in Derbyshire. Counselling service. Legal advice. Pregnancy testing. Employment and skills training. Complementary therapies. Social activities. Support groups: Freedom programme (domestic violence), Phoenix Group (depression).

Somerset Community Care Matters

Specialist advice, including legal advice on community care. Issues covered include health and social care, mental health care, hospital discharge, NHS procedures, older people - care choice and charging, accommodation issues around health, drug and alcohol abuse, disability - rights and entitlements.

Cherry Tree Community Association

Advice for the local community on debt, consumer, employment, disability benefits, welfare rights, appeals, legal advice. Help with form filling. Casework in debt and welfare benefits. Drop-in session Friday 1pm - 4pm. Late appointments and home visits can be arranged.

Prisoners' Advice Service

Specialist advice on prisoners' rights and the application of the prison rules. Also takes up prisoners' complaints about their treatment within the prison system, using legal action where appropriate.
