General information

Service offered: Homemaker exists to help families and individuals on low incomes access furniture, floor coverings, electrical appliances, and other household essentials to “turn their houses into homes.” We provide an extensive range of both new and second hand goods. All of our electrical appliances are guaranteed and an installation service is provided.Bethany Homemaker operates a pricing policy to cover some of the running costs of the project. If a service user can pay for goods needed (i.e. from earnings, savings, statutory funding) or if the referral agent has obtained funding:-The referral agent contacts the project, gives project staff basic service user details and an indication of goods required.A suitable appointment date and time is arranged with the referral agent on their service user’s behalf. (Project staff will confirm the appointment date and time with the service user if necessary). The service user comes along to choose their goods and delivery and (where applicable) installation dates are arranged. If a service user has no savings, is not entitled to statutory funding or has exhausted all sources of statutory funding available, we can offer assistance in raising the funding required for the goods needed:-The referral agent contacts project staff and gives service user’s basic and relevant details together with their requirements, including their details of statutory funding.A suitable interview date and time is arranged with the referral agent on the service user’s behalf.Project staff carry out the interview with the service user to obtain the necessary background information required to match the service user with the charitable organisations and trusts whose criteria for assistance they meet. (NB. We cannot guarantee success in obtaining funding needed, but we have built up considerable expertise in this field). When funding has been obtained, the service user is invited to return to Bethany Homemaker to choose their goods and at that time, delivery (and where applicable) installation dates are arranged.
