Service offered: MSU offers a confidential, free to use telephone helpline service. MSU can offer callers emotional support, help and information and will signpost clients to other specialist services. All MSU staff are trained professionals who have experience of working with men who have experienced domestic abuse. MSU have 2 units of emergency accommodation for men in a crisis situation, needing immediate support, During this time staff will help service users into more appropriate, safe and longer term accommodation with support. MSU also offers 12 units of fully furnished longer term accommodation with intensive support. MSU can offer a floating support service to enable male survivors of domestic abuse to live safely in the community, maintaining their tenancy. A support worker will be assigned to support service users . We also have links to accommodation and can refer to Riverside Housing, Incommunities and other housing providers, should this be required. The peer support group meets every 4 weeks and gives a platform for service users to share their experiences, views and opinions and provide support to their peers. The Men Standing Up Service provide support to our service users to enable them to be supported through legal and court processes. We have a dedicated IDVA worker who will: Support you with getting the right solicitor and applying for legal aid. Case preparation and evidence gathering. Attend court and support you through the whole legal process. Providing emotional support. Support getting non-molestation orders, injunctions and stay order. Support accessing child contact, liaising with social services and CaffCass services. Support around dual allegations. Reporting the abuse to the police and authorities. Act as a responsible adult.
