Service offered: Essex Law Clinic benefits the local community by offering free initial advice about legal problems while giving our students the chance to work alongside practicing lawyers to advise real clients. The Law Clinic can advise on the following issues: family law, housing law, freehold and leasehold disputes, employment issues, consumer issues, equality issues, benefits advice, contracts, and negligence. The Law Clinic cannot take appointments for issues that concern immigration, criminal law, will writing, tax and debt. Essex Law Clinic is based at the University's Colchester campus but will not be open to public at least from October till December 2020.
Target group: Anyone living, working or studying in Essex but especially vulnerable people or people who cannot afford a solicitor
