General information

Service offered: Advice and support for local families and individuals experiencing difficulties such as debt, housing problems, threat of eviction or homelessness, domestic violence, disability and ill-health including mental ill-health in the family, addictions including alcohol, welfare benefits problems, delays, under- and over-payment or confusion, drawing up a budget, children’s school attendance and/or behaviour, unemployment or low level of skills or education. Also runs Wimbledon Food Bank on Wednesday and Friday mornings. A development trust seeking to improve the lives of people living in the East of Merton.

Target group: Local families with children. Older people living on their own or with a partner, spouse or family.

Area served: London Borough of Merton, especially the wards of Pollards Hill, Longthornton and Figge’s Marsh.

Staffing: Total of 19 staff of whom 3 are full-time. Around 35 volunteers at any one time. Step Forward Team offers advice and comprises one full-time and two part-time members of staff.

Public transport: Buses 255, 152, 60 or 463 stop at the ‘Pollards Hill Library’ stop outside our New Horizon Centre building.
