General information

Service offered: Ballymena & Little Steps Sure Start is funded by the Department of Education through the Northern Childcare Partnership and provides a range of services to children from pre-birth up to four years and their families. Services consist of both individual and group support covering eleven electoral wards across Ballymena & Antrim. Services are provided from 3 Centre bases across the localities, within the home setting or through outreach activities to local pre-school, Church and Community settings. The project comprises a multi-agency, multi-disciplinary team and works in close partnership with a range of local Statutory, Voluntary and Community service providers to provide a needs led approach to the delivery of services in the area. Ballymena & Little Steps Sure Start is a Partnership project with Action for Children as the Lead body and the NHSCT as Accountable body. The project has three centre bases (Ballykeel Business Centre,18 Crebilly Road, Ballymena, BT42 4DN / St Joseph's Early Years Centre, 90 Doury Road, Ballymena BT43 6JE / Farranshane House, 1 Ballygore Road, Antrim BT41 2RN) supporting the delivery of services in the designated ward areas in Ballymena & Antrim. The Centre opening hours are from 9am until 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. Ballymena & Little Steps Sure Start offers a wide range of interesting courses, events, and longer term groups including the opportunity to have services in your own home. These include Health, Play & Learning and Family Support Services. Introductory visits to new birth families. Active Antental Programmes including Yoga & Aquanatal. Bumps to Babies Birth & Labour preparation classes. Breast feeding group. Infant Massage classes. Baby Yoga. Baby Reflexology. Health Visitor drop-in clinic. Weaning sessions. Sleep clinic/advice sessions. Infant resuscitation classes. Physical activity for children – Baby & Toddler Swim, Music & Movement. Physical activity for adult-including exercise classes & Choose to Lose Programme. Cookery & Family Budgeting Programmes. Dental Health Promotion events. SureStart Developmental Programme for 2-3 Year olds. Speech & Language Therapy services-including Baby Sign, Let’s Talk Programme & Boosting Babble & Banter sessions. Toy and Book Library Van. Home Play Programmes tailored to the individual child. Book Start Events. My Family book – Adult literacy based programme. Home safety and accident prevention programmes. Parenting Programmes- including Incredible Years; Incredible Babies & Family Links Nurturing. Family Men group. Little Acorns monthly support group for parents and children with additional needs or disability. Sensory Explorer Play sessions. Precious Moments Respite Crèche. Budgeting and benefit advice. Family fun and activity days. International group
