Service offered: KAB supports sight impaired people to live independent lives. We feel that anyone who has a sight impairment should be able to live a fulfilled, healthy and safe life, exercise self-determination and make informed choices, and achieve their own personal goals. We help make this a reality by providing comprehensive support services to people of any age and any stage of the sight loss journey. We work in Kent, Medway, Bromley and Bexley. We provide a range of services that support people living with sight impairments to remain as independent as possible. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been living with a sight impairment or how much sight you have, our Rehabilitation Workers can help you remain safe, mobile and independent. We tailor our support to meet your individual needs to ensure you get the help required, and this can include: Teaching you new skills and techniques that enable you to be independent at home and when you’re out and about. Providing you with equipment designed to keep you safe and independent. Explaining your eye condition and showing you how to make the best use of any remaining vision you have. Offering advice about benefits that may be available to help support you financially. Putting you in touch with other useful services, like free Kent Talking News, and other organisations that can offer you additional support. Referring you for on-going personal support to help with your correspondence, transport, and other day-to-day tasks. Giving you information about clubs and groups in your area where you can meet other sight impaired people or take up new hobbies and activities.
