General information
Service offered: Kingston upon Thames Association for the Blind (KAB) was established in 1966 and has been championing the interests of blind and partially sighted residents in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames since 1966. KAB works in close partnership with the Local Authority, including the Sight and Hearing Service, to enhance support for the visually impaired community. KAB supports a wide range of activities and initiatives, including: Kingston Talking Newspaper. Activities – Ten Pin Bowling, Lawn Bowls, Audio book club, Tech Sessions, Social Lunch clubs with exercise sessions and Quiz and Tandem sessions. Eye Buddy Scheme – pairing volunteers with visually impaired individuals for companionship and support KAB is always looking for new volunteers to assist with both one-off tasks, such as sewing, day trips, or events and ongoing roles like regular home visits. Membership is free and open to anyone residing in the borough and its surroundings who is visually impaired, as well as those interested in supporting their wellbeing.
