Service offered: Diverse Abilities is Dorset Disability Charity providing support for children and adults with profound physical and learning disabilities since 1955. The Advice Service has been supporting Adults with disability and their families and parents of children with disability navigate the benefit system for 14 years. Our advisors are experienced in helping those with mental health difficulties as well as physical difficulties. We pride ourselves in being approachable at all times whilst remaining professional. We help with completing disability Benefit applications, drafting and submission of benefit reconsiderations and appeals, supporting/representing at benefit Tribunal hearings. We also advise on the need for Lasting Power of Attorney, draft LPAs and oversee their registration. We hold local free advice days every two months. Appointments are either office or home based. Telephone advice on disability benefits and LPAs.
Target group: Adults living with disability, parents of children with disability, carers and families caring for someone with disability.
Area served: Home visit service for benefits covers Poole Wareham Bournemouth & Christchurch. LPAs cover 55-mile radius of Poole. Telephone services cover all areas. Office appointments available for those outside of our home visit area.
