General information
Service offered: The Irish Cultural Centre has been established since 1995 and is acclaimed for providing one of the most exciting and adventurous weekly programmes in the UK, featuring Ireland’s best traditional and contemporary musicians, an Irish film programme, Irish literary events, Theatre and art exhibitions and more. We are committed to sharing our culture and we actively work with our neighbours in London’s diverse community, to achieve deeper appreciation of the value of intercultural exchange and understanding which we believe plays a significant part in building a stronger society. Throughout the academic year, we offer an extensive education programme delivered by a committed team of high calibre tutors and available to people of all ages, generations, backgrounds, and cultures who want to share, enjoy and participate in quality Irish arts and cultural activities. We are proud of our 'Open Door' policy and we set out to make Irish arts, culture and education accessible to everyone. The Children's Programme is well developed and well attended and features Irish dance, drama and musical instruments. We have an extensive childrens outreach programme which is supported by the Irish Youth Foundation. We offer outstanding culture outreach days in local schools consisting of storytelling, music, dance and crafts. Our Elder's programme is another active and integral part of the Centre and our reminiscence groups, drama group for women, book-reading groups, film club and twice -monthly 'Pensioners' Tea Dances' are very popular with the older community.
