General information

Service offered: A free and easy to access NHS service offering evidence based treatments recommended for people (16+) experiencing common mild to moderate mental health difficulties. Sunderland’s Psychological Wellbeing Service (SPWS) is a commissioned group of mental health care providers from the NHS and third sector, comprising of Cumbria, Northumberland Tyne and Wear Foundation Trust, Sunderland Counselling Service and Washington Mind. Therapies offered include treatments for stress, depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, body dysmorphic disorder, post-traumatic stress or panic. These include a range of different therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Systemic and Carer’s Therapy. All therapy interventions are provided by qualified practitioners who work with individuals to feel better.
