Service offered: Our vision is a society in which every young wheelchair user is mobile, enabled and included. Mobile: We provide high-quality, personalised equipment for young people who need wheelchairs. Whizz Kidz supplies made-to-measure wheelchairs to some of the 75,000 young people in the UK who need them to be fully mobile, when they don’t meet the NHS criteria for this type of equipment. Whizz Kidz has over 30 years of experience tailoring high-quality equipment, so it meets each user’s unique requirements and helps change their lives. Enabled: We create services and confidence-building activities that give young people the skills and tools to be more independent. Activity days are a great way to meet other young wheelchair users in our community and try a host of activities in an open, supportive environment. From wheelchair rugby to rock climbing, adventure days, creative arts and digital skills, the range of activities on offer means there’s something that everyone can enjoy. Aimed at young people aged 8-25, sessions are created by experts with specialist knowledge in their areas, so they are always pitched at the right level for you. Wheelchair Skills Training (for ages 2-25) will help you navigate the world with confidence, safety and even a little style because getting the right chair is only the start. The skills you learn in a safe and supportive environment on our training programme will make your world open up and more accessible so you can enjoy an independent and active life. Employability Support: Young wheelchair users can receive support from Whizz-Kidz to develop their employability skills, gain experience in the workplace and build confidence before entering the world of work. Included: We campaign and work with young wheelchair users to create societal change and develop a more inclusive world.
