Young People (18 - 25): The DRAGONs (Disability Real Action Group of Norfolk) are a group of young people with disabilities that are looking to make sure that SEND opportunities, in Norfolk, are accessible and that young people are enjoying their services. Milestones is a Transition Service for young people aged 18-25 years old who are preparing for adulthood. The Milestones programme was developed by Nansa in consultation with Norfolk County Council and the young people, parents and families supported by Nansa across other services. Milestones will help to prepare young people with disabilities for adulthood by offering a varied programme of opportunities that encourage aspirations, promote progression and increase independence. The programme provides every young individual a tailored development journey underpinned by 10 main outcomes. On Track is a joint initiative, led by The Matthew Project, working in partnership in Norfolk, with ACE, GYROS, Nansa, The Prince’s Trust and YMCA Norfolk. On Track is a new service to help young people get into work, education or training. On Track is different because it is tailored to meet the needs of the individual young person. A team of friendly coaches and mentors support the young person to get back On Track, giving the advice and help the individual needs to make the most of the things they are good at. On Track is completely free. Adults (18+): Nansa offers a range of services and opportunities for Adults with special educational needs and disabilities. Our core service is a building based provision, delivered from our Adults’ Centre in Norwich; at the centre, we deliver a varied programme of activities that promote wellbeing and independence. The programme is tailored to meet the specific needs of every individual who attends, furthering development and progression towards a set of agreed aims and personal objectives. The Adults’ Centre programme is a continual leaning journey underpinned by 10 key-outcomes. Link-up is a social/leisure group for adults over the age of 18 years old with special educational needs and/or learning disabilities. Link-up provides adults with disabilities an opportunity to explore new interests, meet new friends and generally have fun! Train & Trade - Traineeship with Work Experience. Traineeships are hosted internally at one of Nansa’s charity shops in and around Norwich. Nansa recognises the unique differences and challenges of every Trainee; Development Coaches work together with the individuals whom they support to ensure suitable and realistic learning journeys are tailored in order to meet these specific needs. Train and Trade does not apply the ‘one size fits all’ model used by other learning pathways; deadlines, goals and targets are all agreed by a multi-disciplinary team at annual review meetings. Supported Community Work Placements. These work placements are facilitated by our Outreach Coaches and are hosted in partnership with Wroxham Barns. Trainees who are interested in a Supported Community Work Placement will in the first instance, complete an application of interest form. Places are limited, but are available 7 days a week (for FREE), in both a retail setting, and outdoor setting (working on the land with the animals at Wroxham Barns).
