General information

Service offered: Information, helpline, support and advocacy for family carers. Carers support groups and outreach centres across the county. Training for family carers. Projects run include community support, young carers, mental health and minority ethnic community projects. Anybody can become a Family Carer; their life may be restricted because they provide unpaid care to a family member, friend or neighbour. Suffolk Family Carers provides information, advice and guidance to Family Carers of all ages across Suffolk to help them get the support they need to live fuller lives. Suffolk Family Carers has a range of services to support adult, young and young adult carers. The charity also has a specialist service focused on supporting those who care for someone with mental health issues and/or alcohol problems and substance misuse. Suffolk Family Carers also has a mobile centre the ‘family carer bus’ which travels around the county, to rural villages, to provide support and advice to those who may not know they are a family carer or who are isolated due to their caring role. The bus is a friendly and welcoming space, with room for a private discussion or a cup of tea and a chat with a specially trained family carer adviser.
