Service offered: Established in 1984, CHARMS The Essex Therapy Centre (Registered Charity Number: 1123446) is the only Centre in Essex providing Hyperbaric & Normobaric Oxygen Therapy. We remained open throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic, reclassified as an 'Independent Health Provider' offering a 'Critical Service' for the 'Clinically Extremely Vulnerable' including 'Shielding'. The NHS provides Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) for people with Decompression Sickness, Carbon Monoxide Poisoning and Air & Gas Embolisms. During the Pandemic we treated some cases with Asthma, COPD, Carbon Monoxide Poisoning and after Stem Cell Therapy. We also treated Clients with Long-COVID. Further, MacMillan Cancer Support has information on HBOT. Our success in treating Stage 4 'Terminal' Cancer has enabled people to receive NHS treatment, reducing tumour size & 'normalising' blood levels (boosting immune systems), reducing side effects of Chemotherapy, Radiotherapy & Surgery and helping to prevent metastasis. There are also Clinical Reviews indicating the importance of HBOT to prevent Amputations by reducing healing time and minimising scarring, particularly of Diabetic Foot Ulcers and Crush Injuries, and, alongside Normobaric Oxygen, to reduce the occurrence of Headaches. We often treat Sports injuries including for former Captain of the English Cricket Team, Nasser Hussain, and British Superbike Racers. In other Neurological & Urological Conditions HBOT particularly helps reduce Fatigue, Pain & Bladder Problems. For Multiple Sclerosis, Alzheimer Disease and other Progressive Conditions, HBOT may help to increase time and quality of life before Progression. Stimulating neural pathways, enabling recovery after Trauma, HBOT maximises response to mental & physical treatment which we aim to provide at our Therapy Centre. CHARMS also provides Health & Wellbeing Advice & Advocacy, Counselling & Psychological Interventions, Japanese Traditional Physical Medicine (Acupuncture / Massage) & [access to] Sports Equipment.
