General information
Service offered: Specialist free advice, advocacy and representation for the general public on Welfare Benefits. Assistance and guidance for clients with forms, requesting reviews and completing appeal forms. Representation at Social Security, medical, disability, housing benefit and council tax appeal tribunals. Assistance with appeals to commissioners. The main aim of the Benefit Advice Shop is to ensure that no person loses out financially due to a lack of information about or understanding of the Welfare Benefit System and Social Security Law by providing free, independent, professional advice and assistance. We aim to alleviate poverty and reduce social exclusion through maximization of income. Our main office offers a comprehensive telephone advice service, face to face appointments, a drop-in service, and we can advise and assist over email or zoom. We assist with all means and non means tested benefit entitlement advice and provide better off calculations. We assist with making benefit claims and complete disability forms such as Personal Independence Payment, Attendance Allowance and Child’s Disability Living Allowance. We advise and assist with benefit premiums and passported benefits and can assist with DWP energy schemes and blue badge applications. We complete Mandatory Reconsiderations to challenge negative decisions, overpayments, sanctions and underpayments. We represent at Social Security Tribunals and can challenge a negative decision in the Upper Tribunal. We are the main organisation In North Wales who will represent at a hearing.
