General information
Service offered: Partners in Advocacy in Dundee welcomes referrals for all children and young people ages 21 and under who are unable to act for themselves, or have no independent person to act for them. Particular priority is however given to children and young people with: Learning disabilities / Mental health issues / Transition issues / Isolation issues / Communication issues or / Issues as a result of being a young parent. Partners in Advocacy is also responsible for providing independent advocacy for all children and young people who have been detained in Dundee or who are at risk of being affected by the Mental Health (Care & Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003.We offer individual (1:1) advocacy which is inclusive, free of cost, confidential and most importantly led by the young person’s instruction. We also support those who may not be able to instruct an advocate or who have been judged to lack the mental capacity to engage in a discussion relating to their wishes for the future. This is known as non-instructed advocacy.
Target group: Children, young people ages 21 and under with learning difficulties/disabilities. Young People under MHCT.
