General information
Service offered: Advice, including welfare benefits advice, information, social work support, counselling and screening for people with sickle cell and thalassaemia. Young people's support group (last Saturday of month), adult sickle cell support group (last Saturday of month). Training, education and awareness raising for the voluntary and statutory sector.
Target group: Children, young people and adults with sickle cell and thalassaemia, their families and carers.
Area served: London Borough of Hackney and City of London.
How to contact: Registered sickle cell & thalassaemia patients can self-refer to the drop-in service in the medical day unit. Newly diagnosed patients will be referred by their GPs or internal hospital consultant to the sickle cell consultant.
