Service offered: We assist customers with claims for council-related benefits such as housing benefit and council tax reduction. We provide a drop-in service for the general public on queries regarding housing benefit, council tax reduction, free school meals, discretionary housing payments, community living support applications, the household support fund and other council-benefit related matters. Our Customer First office at Halifax is open from 10-4pm Monday to Friday (closed on bank holidays and we have a late opening at 12.30pm on the last Thursday of each month). We also close for lunch from 1-1.30 Mon-Thu and from 1-2pm on Fridays. We also have a Customer First drop-in service on Tuesdays at Todmorden Library (10am-3pm, lunch 1pm-1.30pm) and Brighouse Library fortnightly on Mondays from 10am-3pm, lunch 1pm-1.30pm. Brighouse dates can change depending on bank holidays- customers can check our website at Customer First - Brighouse | Calderdale Council (https://new.calderdale.gov.uk/council-locations/customer-first-brighouse). The above information is focused on benefits queries, but we also deal with other council-related matters to do with housing, parking, waste, admissions, blue badges and some other council services.
