General information

Service offered: Amina - the Muslim Women's Resource Centre. Amina is an intersectional organisation that empowers and supports Muslim, Black and Minority Ethnic women to create an inclusive Scotland. We envision a world where Muslim and BME women are fulfilling their aspirations. Helpline including Islamic Advice on 0808 801 0301 (Monday-Friday, 10am-4pm). Financial Advocacy and Violence Against Women and Girls Casework. Telephone Befriending. Creative Wellbeing. Peer Support. Employability Support. Free and Confidential listening ear and signposting service for Muslim women. Amina offers a range of tailored support services such as our national helpline which also offers Islamic advice through a female scholar, telephone befriending, casework & financial advocacy, creative well-being and employability & peer support. Our Ending Violence Against Women and Girls programme engages in campaigning, training, policy work and consultancy with organisations as well as community awareness-raising. Through the cumulative and vast experience of staff and volunteers, Amina also creatively raises awareness of key issues through our engaging campaigns such as ‘You Can Change This’ (raising awareness of violence against women), ‘I Speak for Myself’ (challenging negative stereotypes/misconceptions of Muslim women).
