General information
Service offered: Bereavement support service for children and young people living in the Highlands. A family visit to our office, to meet with our service manager and/or family support volunteers, helps us to identify what kind of support is best for the bereaved child or young person. Sometimes this visit is all a family needs in order to feel reassured and equipped to move forward together. Once a family assessment visit has taken place, we may offer: Family support sessions to help parents/carers and children communicate openly with one another about their loss. Short-term one-to-one support. A six- to eight-week group programme (available for different age groups). A 'Day to Remember' – a special remembrance day in which small groups of children share their experiences and make memories of the person who died. These are available for different age groups. Support for schools and other agencies to ensure appropriate resources are in place for the child. Books, leaflets and advice to help families feel equipped in talking openly with one another.
Target group: Bereaved children and young people age 5-18.
Area served: Mainland Highland
