Service offered: The Stroke Recovery Support Service helps to provide emotional and practical support for stroke survivors and their families’. Preparing them for the challenging changes they will ultimately have to make and support them through the often difficult adjustments. Providing essential information and benefit advise, to ensure that their needs are met to make the best possible recovery. Working together with the stroke survivor and the family to set achievable goals, so they can live a more independent and fulfilling life. Making sure they are aware of the services that are available in the borough. Also providing a navigational, advocacy link with the inpatient and community rehabilitation teams and other care providers in Waltham Forest for stroke survivors, their families’ and carers. The Communication Support Service helps people who suffer from Aphasia a disability that is common after a stroke. It affects people in different ways but can be a devastating condition that can alter all areas of life. We the Stroke Association can work with the Stroke Survivor to help communicate better. We can offer social and practical tools to help you rebuild confidence and develop new ways of communicating.
