Halo Project (Middlesbrough)

The Halo Project Charity offers victims support, advocacy and specialist Honour-Based Violence, Female Genital Mutilation and Forced Marriage advice. We offer a confidential and free service to our victims when assisting them with any issues they may be facing. Our trained advisors and members of staff are aware of the cultural sensitivity that comes into play when dealing with the above issues.We work with a range of agencies and safeguarding partnerships across the UK providing specialist advice and information so that the correct level of risk has been identified. This ensures victims are offered the necessary intervention without any compromise. We offer professional advice to agencies, which includes training, raising awareness, workshops, conferences and tailored solutions. Our team is also experienced in developing procedures and policies in line with multi-agency statutory guidelines issued by the Forced Marriage Unit.

Asylum law advice, support and referrals. Help with housing and subsistence, accessing health, education, support services and solicitors. Referrals for refugees to access training and employment. Development work with refugee community groups. Campaigning and refugee awareness training, volunteering programmes, voluntary return programme and liaison with other agencies.

Combined jobsearch and benefits service for people of working age. Personal advisers assist with jobsearch activities and benefits claims. Access to Jobpoint terminals for information on job vacancies. Part of the Department for Work and Pensions' Jobcentre Plus network.

Advice, information and support for women and men of any age who have been affected by rape or sexual abuse at any time in their lives. Counselling service for Teesside residents, any age. Independent Sexual Violence Advisers working across Teesside assisting people through the court process.

Impact on Teesside – a partnership of Alliance Psychological Services Ltd, Insight Healthcare and Middlesbrough & Stockton Mind

IMPACT on Teesside is the Primary Care Therapy Service available to those aged 16 or above who are registered with a GP Surgery in Stockton on Tees, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough or Redcar. This service provides a range of different interventions including talking therapies and outreach services across the area for people experiencing difficulties that are impacting upon their mental health. IMPACT on Teesside is a Partnership between Alliance Psychological Services, Insight Healthcare and Middlesbrough & Stockton MIND. It’s aim is to provide timely interventions to help improve wellbeing and overall health.

Middlesbrough Borough Council - Welfare Rights Unit

Advice, Casework and Tribunal Representation in welfare benefits and tax credits delivered through outreach services at local Health, Council and Community venues in Middlesbrough. Training and information.

Tees Valley Women's Centre

Vocational and non-vocational training for women and young girls. Information technology courses, return to work training and courses relevant to local labour market needs. Advice and guidance on looking for work, applying for jobs and training courses. Also provide recreational activities and lobby on women's issues. Free creche for women on courses. Breakfast club and playgroup.
