The Centre Place

The LGBT+ Service Nottinghamshire was established by The Centre Place as an addition to the LGBT+ support being provided since 2010. We offer a range of professional, specialist services for young people aged 11-25 who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or trans (LGBT+) or may be questioning their sexual orientation or gender identity. One-to-one appointments and group sessions are available to all young people and their families for information, advise, support and guidance. Talkzone is a service offered by The Centre Place and is a free counselling service for young people aged 11-25 living within Bassetlaw. We also offer LGBT+ specific counselling along side our general counselling service.

The Signpost to Polish Success (SPS)

SPS was established in 2005 to support the new arrivals from Eastern Europe, mainly Polish migrants. Since 2008 SPS has strengthened its position as an established organisation that delivers essential services to the new and emerging communities. Services include providing regular English language courses, offering Polish and other Eastern European migrants 1-2-1 information/ signposting sessions, publishing “East Midlands po Polsku”, roughly translated as “the East Midlands in Polish” – free monthly Polish newspaper, which contains information about local events and life, running SPS food bank, delivering online webinars, organising meetings, social gathering and events such as workshops and presentations, developing a sense of community and working towards community cohesion, recruiting volunteers, partnership work with various organisations and many others. SPS is a front line organisation that works closely with the Eastern European community and in partnership with many relevant organisations in Nottingham, the East Midlands, UK and Europe.

Nottinghamshire Hospice

Range of services for adults affected by life limiting illnesses. Wellbeing providing complementary therapies and activities including art, crafts, mindfulness, and chair-based exercise. Hospice in your Home providing care for patients and respite for families/carers. Care in the home is offered overnight and during the day. Bereavement support and counselling.

Relate - Nottinghamshire (Nottingham)

Counselling for adult couples or individuals with relationship difficulties. Divorce and separation work and help for parting parents. Family counselling. Training and life skills group work. Psychosexual therapy for people with sexual problems within their relationship. Sessions cost up to £60. Clients are asked to contribute as much as they can pay according to their income.

Jobcentre Plus - Newark

Combined jobsearch and benefits service for people of working age. Personal advisers assist with jobsearch activities and benefits claims. Access to Jobpoint terminals for information on job vacancies. Part of the Department for Work and Pensions' Jobcentre Plus network.

Children's Bereavement Centre

Free Support for children, young people (3-18) and their parents/carers who are affected by the death or terminal illness of someone close to them. Support includes one to one support sessions, telephone advice, Play Therapy, Filial Therapy, group activities, social events and workshops. Training is provided for professionals to increase their knowledge and skills to better support children and young people who are grieving.
