Cambridge Re-Use

Provides furniture ,electrical goods and household items at a low price for people who are struggling on a low income or receiving benefits. People can refer themselves to the scheme by bringing in proof of their income ie benefit letters or wage slips or agencies and organisations can refer people. A single household earing under £18,000 and couples earning under £23,000 are eligible to become customers.

Carers Centre for Brighton and Hove

Emotional support, information and advocacy for people caring for an ill or disabled person at home, and for former carers. Information on a range of issues, including disability and health, support groups and other services for carers. Help with benefit claims and form filling. Young carers and volunteer projects. Run regular activities, outings and groups. Also provide legal surgeries and targeted support for mental health carers and dementia carers in addition to bereaved carers.

Age UK Buckinghamshire

We offer a range of services for older people in Buckinghamshire, aimed at supporting them achieve and maintain their independence. We have a number of free services: Our Information and Advice line offers free and impartial advice on all issues concerning older people, their families and carers. Our Befriending Service aims to help prevent social isolation by matching trained volunteers with older people and offering weekly social contact. Our new BOOST service is also aimed at preventing isolation but with the emphasis on supporting older people to reengage with community based or peer to peer activities, working towards them accessing these independently. This is a time limited service of 6 months. The Welfare Benefits Service supports older people in Bucks with claiming key benefits such as Attendance Allowance and ensuring they are in receipt of all the benefits they are entitled to. We now also deliver the Hospital Discharge Support Service, which helps people get home after a hospital stay from Stoke Mandeville and Wexham Park hospitals (referral for this is via the hospital discharge teams). This service can also support people living in the community with practical support for a maximum of six weeks whilst they recover, to prevent hospital admission. We also have some chargeable services that are aimed at supporting older people to live independently, by introducing referenced freelance agents in a number of services: Housekeeping (Cleaning & Ironing), Toe nail cutting, Hairdressing, Computer training, Handyperson and Gardening.

The Hop 50+

The Hop 50+ is a community space and café which offers a range of activities and social opportunities for people aged 50+. We are aimed at supporting customers to improve their health and wellbeing, to learn new skills and to be a place where people can enjoy good food and company. We offer a range of activities that include day trips out, exercise groups, tech help, quizzes and art groups. We serve a homecooked main meal between 12.30 and 1.30pm. Our snack menu is available throughout the day. The café is open on Wednesday mornings for the Pit Stop, 9.30-11.30am as a drop in for people living with the early stages of dementia and carers only. We offer a comfortable and friendly informal café space where people can drop in, meet other people for mutual support and have a chat with people for whom dementia is an everyday reality. We run the Hop Stop on a Friday which is dedicated to providing a specialist dementia friendly service. This is a pre-book session only. Please contact us to find out more about the service. What we’re not: A day centre or respite service. Somewhere that is able to offer personal care. We are somewhere people need to be able to self-manage and to be safe in a drop-in space.
