Legal advice and information on housing, debt, welfare benefits and immigration issues for people in receipt of benefits or on a low income. Representation at social security tribunals and at the county court for housing cases.

Grace Organisation

Day centre for older and vulnerable people. Provide lunch (£5 per day), day care services including exercise classes and recreational and creative activities. Transport provided to and from the centre

Relate Mediation North East London & Essex

Family mediation for couples who are divorcing or separating. Deal with issues relating to children, property and finance.

North London Samaritans

Telephone helpline (116 123) operating 24 hours a day offering emotional support for anyone in crisis. Offers a listening and befriending service to people who are isolated, feel in despair or who are suicidal. We are currently unable to accept visitors at our branch. National Samaritans number (116 123) can also put callers through to their nearest unengaged branch.

Haringey Migrant Support Centre

Weekly service for migrants offering free immigration advice from legal professionals, and advice, limited casework and signposting services on welfare (eg Section 17 and Adult Social Care) and housing issues. Also offers health advice, help in accessing NHS services and a hot meal. HMSC operates two telephone lines on Thursdays for people to speak to us and get support. New Enquiries Line – Thursdays from 10am: 020 4566 7412 - If you are a new visitor/client (you have never been to HMSC) or if you are an existing visitor with a totally new issue, please call our New Enquiries Line on Thursdays from 10am. The line will close each week when we reach capacity. If we cannot take your call, please try again the following Thursday. Because of limited resources, we will not reply to new enquiries by email or telephone outside of this line and there is no way to leave a message on this line. We will take only basic details from you at this stage. We will start working on your case the following Monday. Capacity is limited, so we will prioritise those who are destitute or on a very low income, and those who cannot afford to access advice elsewhere. We cannot help British citizens. Catch-up Line – Thursdays 12pm to 2pm: 020 4566 7445 - If you are an existing visitor (you already have a file open with HMSC for this issue), please call our Catch-up Line, on Thursdays from 12pm to 2pm.

Range of services for Greek and Greek Cypriot women and children. Advice on welfare rights, housing and education. Interpreting/advocacy scheme. Adult education classes. Internet access. Employment and training project. Volunteer befriending scheme. Easter and summer playschemes. Good neighbour scheme. Carers self-help group. Cultural and social activities.

Eritrean Community in the UK

Advice and information for the Eritrean community, including refugees and asylum seekers. Subjects include benefits, immigration, housing, social services, training, family issues and education, business set-up. Support groups for women and older people. Supplementary schools, mother tongue classes, cultural and social activities.

London Alevi Cultural Centre and Cem-Evi

Community centre for Turkish and Kurdish Alevi, and other ethnic groups in London including refugees and asylum seekers. Advice on benefits, employment, health, housing rights, immigration and nationality, racial harassment. Services for older people. We provide an Advice and Information Service, Supplementary School, Football activities, Women Support, parental Support, Adult Education, Arts and performing Arts for children and adults. We work in partnership with the main stream services and other community centres to cater for the Turkish and Kurdish speaking communities.
