Advice, information, support and day care for adults with acquired brain injury, their carers and professionals involved in their care. Support group for carers. Day centre offers opportunities for social rehabilitation, relearning basic living skills, adult basic education and crafts.

Information and support for informal carers. Advocacy. Telephone support. Social activities. Welfare benefits advice. Support groups. Information Advice Support Service and Independent Support for parents and carers of a child with special educational needs or young people with special educational needs. Groups for parent carers, dementia, black, Asian and minority ethnic carers, young carers in Barking and Dagenham and Thurrock. Various training courses available for carers.

BATIAS Independent Advocacy Service

Advocacy service for people with learning disabilities. Offer one to one and group advocacy. Provide representation and empowerment to enable people's voices to be heard and to support them in obtaining their rights. Our zero 5 club is a popular social group for people with disabilities which is facilitated by advocates who can provide support for individuals and signposting for further services.

Thurrock Council - Housing Options

Assessment of entitlement to housing for people who are homeless or threatened with homelessness. Housing provided for people considered in priority need of housing. Temporary accommodation may be available while enquiries are made about eligibility. General housing advice and information to residents. Rent deposit bond guarantee scheme.

Essex Sight

Advice, information and support for blind and visually impaired people, their relatives, and carers. Information Centre open in Colchester Library Wednesday 10am to 1pm for face-to-face advice and demonstrations of small pieces of equipment, moving to Lion Walk Church September 2024 for approx. 6 months. Other resource centres in Halstead, Maldon, Chelmsford, Walton On The Naze, Clacton, Harwich, Brentwood are held monthly (call for details) . Home visiting service for those who are housebound.
