Dementia UK

Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nursing charity that is there for the whole family. Our nurses, known as Admiral Nurses, provide life-changing advice and support for families affected by dementia. As experts in the condition, they help families through the fear and confusion of dementia. From sharing practical tips for caring to offering compassionate emotional support and helping families plan for the future, they are there when people need them most. Admiral Nurses work on the free Dementia Helpline, in virtual and face-to-face clinics, and in the community, including hospitals, GP practices, care homes and hospices. The Bolton Irish Centre would like to extent a warm welcome to the whole of the Bolton community. The Centre is a hub for the Irish community within the Bolton area where people can enjoy and share cultural experiences. We host regular live Irish music, Ceile dancing and free jamming sessions.

Bolton Information & Advisory Service (SEND)

Information, advice and support for parents/carers of children and young people aged 0-25 with special educational needs. Support through the EHCP process and at reviews and tribunals. Liaison between parents/carers and school/LA. Mentoring children who are experiencing difficulties with their school/home life. Also support around non-curriculum issues such as bullying and school policy.

Nugent - Housing Support Unit

Housing Support Unit provides a homeless accommodation service with an expected length of stay of up to 6 months. The service provides support for clients to develop the skills to move on to their own independent tenancies. Referrals to the service must be completed via The Mainstay System - contact number 0151 600 3547. Starter packs such as bedding, pots and pans etc can be accessed for our clients via our fund raising.

Information and advice for deaf and hard of hearing people. Information on some aspects of deafness. Advocacy Services – offered two days a week. Appointments required. Support provided with Form completions, enquiries and telephone calls etc. The Darby and Joan Social Club Tuesday morning from 11:00am. Bingo starts at 1:00pm. The Sports and Social Club Tuesday evening from 7:00pm. Sign Inn Café & Crafts Group Wednesday mornings from 10:30am. Deaf Church Regular monthly BSL Anglican service signed by Rev Cathy Nightingale, Chaplain to Deaf People for the Diocese of Manchester. Hand Made Sign Choir once a month, timings differ. Hearing Aid Drop-in Fourth Tuesday of every month, 10:30am until 12:00pm, provided by Royal Bolton Hospital Audiology Department. This service is for people with NHS hearing aids supplied by Royal Bolton Hospital. Sign Language Classes Courses are provided by independent trainers. Please contact us for more information.
