Oasis Cardiff

Oasis Cardiff is a non-profit charity that aims to help Refugees and Asylum Seekers in Cardiff. During the week our centre is open to Refugees and Asylum Seekers, we run various women only sessions and groups, art classes, English language classes, sports sessions, daily advisory sessions, advocacy forums, relaxation sessions and the list goes on, oh and we provide free lunch every weekday and it’s always delicious! Outside of our centre, we aim to organise regular cultural and sports trips around Wales from museum and art gallery visits to sport team activities and mountain peak challenges. To involve and engage our local Splott community with what we do and all of the amazing people we meet we run regular community events such as a monthly ‘Supper Club’ with a dish from a different part of the world every month, as well as our monthly ‘Refugee Mobile Kitchen’ run from our Oasis Cardiff Trailer with global food that has been introduced to us by our culinarily talented clients. We also host a weekly community cinema club free for all families with free pizza and popcorn!

Lobbying, advocacy and research group working with and for refugee women and their families. Empower and support women seeking sanctuary to voice their needs and represent themselves. Offer befriending and practical help - hospital visits, support at interviews, help with form filling etc.

Mediators help couples who are separating or divorcing or who are in conflict following separation or divorce to discuss and negotiate arrangements for the future concerning children, property and finance. Hold an LSC Quality Mark and can offer free mediation under the legal aid scheme to people on a low income, otherwise charged on a sliding scale according to income

Cardiff YMCA

YMCA Cardiff works across South East Wales. Our aim is to make a positive difference in the communities we work in. We work in two distinct areas, youth and community and housing and homelessness. We support more than 250 young carers (aged 7-16) and their families in South East Wales and provide sexual health outreach programmes to young people throughout the city as well as delivering youth clubs and other opportunities across the city. We also run YMCA Plas (formerly Plasnewydd Community Centre where we provide childcare, youth clubs, community rooms and health and wellbeing opportunities 7 days a week. Additionally, Cardiff YMCA Housing Association is a charitable Housing Association and a Registered Social Landlord. We are registered with the Welsh Government and we directly manage board and lodge hostels in the Roath area of Cardiff. We provide Accommodation for nearly 120 homeless people in Cardiff with the belief that everyone should have a safe place to stay. Our residents receive the support they need in order to achieve and sustain the transition into independent living. We provide opportunities through our Pre Fab shop and recycling unit for our residents and volunteers alike
