Family Mediation Cymru

Mediators help couples who are separating or divorcing or who are in conflict following separation or divorce to discuss and negotiate arrangements for the future concerning children, property and finance. Hold an LSC Quality Mark and can offer free mediation under the legal aid scheme to people on a low income, otherwise charged on a sliding scale according to income

Bridgend Carers Centre

Information and support for adult carers. Advice on benefits, care and conditions. Signposting to local groups/services. One-to-one sessions, coffee morning, events and activities. Training and leisure. Monthly carers group. Weekly Community Café every Wednesday 12.30 – 3pm. Young Carers Education Project. Young Adult Carers Support Group. We have a Carers Choir and a monthly Dementia Group (Check website for up to date details).

Bridgend Social Services

Provides a range of social services for children/families, older people, people with disabilities, learning difficulties and mental health problems through several specialist teams.

Platfform

Services for people with mental health problems. Work with people to ensure their mental health crisis doesn't result in a housing crisis, & vice versa. Work with people leaving hospital to ensure suitable accommodation is in place. Support people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness to find accommodation that will support their mental wellbeing. Supported housing, floating/tenancy support.

Cancer Information and Support Services

Services for cancer patients, their carers, families and friends and for health professionals. Emotional support and One to one Counselling. Helpline every day providing information and support on all forms of cancer, screening, treatment and prevention. Library, internet facilities and a charity shop.

The Wallich - Bond Board Bridgend

Help for people who are homeless or threatened with homelessness. Issues bond certificates to cover the cost of a deposit on a rented flat or house. Guarantees to landlords that they will receive payment up to the value of the Bond if the tenancy ends prematurely. Supports tenants in the move and resettlement process. Promotes positive relationships with local landlords.

Jobcentre Plus - Porthcawl

Combined jobsearch and benefits service for people of working age. Personal advisers assist with jobsearch activities and benefits claims. Access to Jobpoint terminals for information on job vacancies. Part of the Department for Work and Pensions.

New Pathways

Helpline and face-to-face counselling service for men, women, children and young people who are traumatised by rape or sexual abuse. Also for their families and partners. Counselling for children traumatised by any issue.

Bridgend Association of Voluntary Organisations

BAVO provides support, guidance, practical assistance and information to local voluntary sector groups to develop skills, services and activities, ensuring they are represented across a wide range of issues locally, regionally and nationally. Community navigators work with individuals to identify their needs and then supports them to access community services or activities that they feel are right for them. Community Companions is BAVO’s befriending service for those who are house-bound and isolated and need a human connection.

Tros Gynnal Plant - Bridgend Restorative Approaches Family Group Meeting Service

The Restorative Approaches Family Group Meeting (RAFGM) Service is for families who are experiencing conflict within their family and need support to find solutions. The service helps families to overcome difficulties by building, maintaining and where necessary repairing relationships. Family members will be encouraged to identify their strengths, skills and resources to make positive changes. A Restorative Approaches Family Group Meeting is where family members, friends and relevant people come together to discuss and make plans for the future. The RAFGM Practitioner will work with you to support and help you prepare and attend the meeting.
